Diving Equipment

Diving equipment is used to enhance underwater mobility, safety, and enjoyment. Different gear is utilized by different practices. For instance, free-diving may make use of the most basic items. Many people simple do it with fins, a swimsuit, and a mask.

The diving equipment used for snorkeling is only slightly more complicated. This option makes use of a tube known as a snorkel. It allows for breathing near the surface to occur with ease.

Scuba diving equipment tends to be the most complex. Of course, even within the realm of scuba there is a lot of variation. Some sets may be designed for open circuit breathing. This means the used gases are exhaled directly as waste. Less commonly, gear may be used which recycles the exhaled breath.
